Understanding Funeral Pricing

site image

Funeral prices are broken down into three categories, each of which goes into calculating the overall cost of a funeral. At the conclusion of your arrangement conference with the funeral director, you will be provided with a "Statement of Funeral Goods & Services Selected" which outlines each selection your family has made to arrive at the overall cost of the funeral or memorial.

To better help families understand these categories before you come into the funeral home to make arrangements, we've provided explanations below:

  • Professional Services  include the professional and technical services of our staff, use of our facilities, equipment and full fleet of professional funeral automobiles, along with access to our professional knowledge bank that comes with our firms' collective 100 year-plus history of serving families in Kittitas County.
  • Merchandise  is the category of items such as caskets, urns, alternative cremation containers, outer burial containers, memorial stationery, headstones and other tangible goods we sell you. All merchandise is subject to applicable sales tax.
  • Cash Advance Items are things that we procure and/or pay for on your behalf ahead of the service and include on your statement. This category includes items such as certified death certificates, paid obituary announcements, gratuities for service participants (such as clergy, organist/pianist, vocalist, etc.) and cemetery expenses.

When exploring funeral costs, please remember that the accurate cost of your family's wishes is arrived at when the total of all three categories above are combined.

Professional Services + Merchandise + Cash Advances = Total Price of Funeral

When comparing pricing between funeral homes or cremation providers, we encourage you to look at the whole picture and not just the lowest advertised price

We are always available to discuss pricing with you and help your family arrive at a realistic estimate of the costs involved for any funeral, memorial, cremation or burial that your family may wish to arrange.

Payment Arrangements

To lose someone you love is a devastating human experience. It is frequently traumatic and can seriously impact judgement and often comes at a time when survivors are least prepared financially. We believe in the importance of the recognition and meaningful celebration of a life that has been lived and will assist in an appropriate service to meet your individual needs. It is also important to be realistic in respect to funeral expenses, keeping within your family’s budget while still honoring your wishes. In order to be fair to all parties, discussion and agreement with regards to payment terms are handled at the time of arrangement.

We accept many forms of payment including cash and check (which do not incur a processing fee) as well as credit cards (2.9% fee added of total amount to be charged) and life insurance assignments (fee varies, based on amount to be assigned)

We have never turned away a family based on their ability to pay and solicit your frankness regarding financial matters. We pledge to work with you, if necessary, to arrive at terms that are fair and amicable to all involved.
