Rev. Rebecca Thomas

Rev. Rebecca Thomas

Certified Celebrant

Rev. Rebecca Thomas is an ordained minister, a certificated teacher, and a certified funeral/memorial celebrant.

She was born and raised on the west side of Washington State, came to Central Washington University for college, and has made the Kittitas Valley her home ever since. After receiving her bachelor’s degree, interning as a college pastor, and teaching in Yakima for 4 years, Rebecca was the Associate Pastor at New Life Assembly in Kittitas, WA for 7 years serving in various pastoral roles.

Rebecca finished the requirements for Ordination with the Assemblies of God USA and was ordained in April of 2024. She is part of the Area Leadership Team for the Northwest Ministry Network, has served as President and Vice-President of the local Kittitas Valley Ministerial Association, and is a local substitute teacher as well.

Why celebrant work? Well, early exposure to funerals and memorial services meant that it was not out of the ordinary for Rebecca to be the person who attended services with a friend who had lost someone and didn’t want to go alone. So, long before any pastoral or celebrant training, Rebecca understood the power of presence. It is an honor and a moment of sacred space to come alongside families and friends that are grieving and processing the loss of a loved one. That privilege is not taken lightly, and Rebecca’s heart is to create moments of healing for those left behind as they process and grapple with what it means to live their life in the after or a loss.

Rebecca lives in Kittitas with her husband, two daughters, and their 3 dogs. You might find her subbing in the Ellensburg School District, traveling to dog shows, reading in her hammock chair, or working in her garden.
