Patrick E. DeVere

Patrick E. DeVere, 69, of South Cle Elum, passed away at his home on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.  A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Laurel Hill Memorial Park in Cle Elum with a reception to follow at the Cle Elum Eagles Club.

Pat was born on February 14, 1954 in Ellensburg, Washington to Joseph E. & Mary (Paskvan) DeVere.  He was raised in Cle Elum where he played football and basketball for Cle Elum High School before graduating with the class of 1972.

Following graduation, Pat went to work for the Milwaukee Railroad as a section worker and then as a brakeman/switchman.  His railroad career continued with Burlington Northern.  He spent about ten years at Ski Acres/Alpental Ski Resorts and then the Tacoma Municipal Belt Line.  In 1997, Pat shifted careers, working as a maintenance man for various apartment complexes in Fife, Olympia and then Roslyn.

Pat was very mechanically inclined and spent many hours working on cars, playing golf and watching the Seahawks and Mariners play on TV.  He was also a member of a band - known by different names over the years but always referred to by many as “The DeVere Brothers” - playing the drums.  Of most importance to Pat was the time he spent socializing with his friends and family.

Pat is survived by his son Jeff DeVere of Snohomish; sister Evie Murchison of Tacoma; brother Joe DeVere of South Cle Elum as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Jim and Chuck.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to KVH Hospice and Hearts & Hands of Kittitas County (formerly Hospice Friends) for their care and support over these last few months.  To that end, memorial contributions in Pat’s honor are suggested to either organization.
