Marilyn G. Fairchild

August 12, 1936 — March 5, 2024

Ellensburg, Washington

Marilyn Gail Fairchild passed away March 5, 2024, at Pacifica Senior Living Memory Care surrounded by her family. Marilyn was born August 12, 1936 in Riggins, Idaho to David and Elda Pinkston. They relocated to Prineville, Oregon where Marilyn grew up.

She met her future husband and forever love Bob at a dance, and they were married September 12, 1953 when Marilyn was seventeen and Bob was eighteen. By 1962, they had four young daughters and had relocated the family to Ellensburg. In 1965, they welcomed their fifth baby girl and set about raising their family.

What started as a summertime job at CWSC (CWU) turned into a career lasting over 30 years. In 1998, Marilyn retired from the registrar office, where she most enjoyed helping and interacting with the college students.

Marilyn, affectionately known as Pinki, was known for her infectious laughter and welcoming smile. She was a gentle listener and a truly kind spirit—she would bless your heart without a hint of irony.   She also had a tremendous faith that she leaned on her entire life, and a love of family that was deeply embodied, and felt by those around her. She was an avid gardener who was at peace when working with the earth, and a talented artist who was gifted at seeing beauty everywhere.

Marilyn is survived by her daughters Lana (Mike) Smith, Keli (John) Bender, Kim Fairchild, Toni (Tom) Clayton, ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and a new great-great granddaughter, as well as her beloved sister Pami Jo (Elwin) Westbrook, and several nieces and nephews. Marilyn was preceded in death by her loving husband Bob, their daughter Teri Dellinger, and her parents.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Pacifica Senior Living Memory Care staff, for loving our mom through her final moments and becoming our family. Also to Rhonda Ramm, NP and to KVH Hospice for your thoughtful care and guidance.

Per Marilyn’s request, there will be no formal service. Her family will honor her privately.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Johnston & Williams of Ellensburg. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.johnston-williams.com
