Obituary

Larry D. Cassidy, 77, of South Cle Elum, passed away peacefully Monday, August 28, 2023 at the Kittitas Valley Hospital in Ellensburg.  A private family gathering to honor his life has been held.

Larry was born on August 9, 1946 in Klamath Falls, Oregon to Duane & Martha (Givan) Cassidy and grew up in Klamath Falls before moving to Baker City when he graduated high school.  He briefly attended the University of Oregon before joining the United States Air Force in 1966 where he served a four-year enlistment before his honorable discharge as a sergeant in 1970.

Following his military service, Larry married Marilyn Munhall and had his first son Kevin.  Larry attended the Oregon Institute of Technology where he obtained his bachelor's degree and graduated as the top student in his class.  He then went to work for Boeing in Seattle where he had a very long and successful career as a computer engineer before his retirement.

After his divorce, Larry met Sharon Rogers at a softball game and they hit it off.  They later married and made their home in West Seattle where they raised their two children, Michael and Christopher. They later divorced.

Larry moved to South Cle Elum in 2019 to be closer to his son Christopher and his family.  He enjoyed watching baseball and golf on TV and was also a big fan of the Dodgers.  Larry was strong in his relationship with Christ and enjoyed going to church, reading and studying his Bible, and was also proud of his 25 years of sobriety and participation in AA.  He walked alongside many folks over the years as a sponsor and friend to those in recovery.

Larry is survived by his mother Martha Cassidy of Baker City, OR; brothers Kelly Cassidy and Gary Cassidy of Baker City; sons Christopher (Basia) Cassidy of Roslyn, WA; Michael (Jennifer) Braun of Raymond, WA and Kevin (Darnel) Cassidy of Haines, OR; grandchildren Josiah, Zofia, Andrewas, Nickolas and Kale; and great grandchild George.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Johnston & WIlliams of Cle Elum.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.johnston-williams.com
