Kay Crume Obituary

Our beloved, Sandra Kay Crume, was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She left this world suddenly on December 22, 2021 at the young age of 62 with her immediate family by her side.  The family will greet friends and family for a viewing from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Johnston & Williams Funeral Home in Ellensburg. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2022 also at the funeral home with burial to follow at the Thorp Cemetery.

Kay was born on July 9, 1959 in Yokosuka, Japan to Frank & Kaoru “Nina” (Oga) Livengood. The family moved to the United States when Kay was two years old.  She lived with her family in many places across the USA including, Hawaii, Alaska, Illinois and California. She graduated from high school in Adak, Alaska in 1977.

Kay married her high school sweetheart, Steve Crume, on June 3, 1977. They moved to Ellensburg, making their home here since that time. She spent many years working in customer service roles in the Kittitas Valley - making many lifelong friends along the way. Following her recent retirement, Kay joked that she had become a “housewife in training”.

Kay enjoyed attending concerts, traveling, camping, boating, and most importantly spending quality time with her family and of course shopping. She was truly a “people person” and never met a stranger.  Perhaps the greatest joy in Kay’s life was her family - from her husband, to her children and especially her grandchildren. She also had a deep love for her dogs.

Kay is survived by her husband, Steve, at the family home in Ellensburg; daughters Sharlene (Ben) Kulinski of Redmond, Nicole (Chris) Wheatley of Thorp and Sonya (Wayne) Throckmorton of Tacoma; grandchildren Joey, Jacob, Trenton, Joaquin, Kiyah, Kiley, Benji, Lexi, Audrey, Stella, Percival. Her brothers Victor (Vickie) Livengood of Arizona and Daniel (Jen) Livengood of Wyoming. And multiple Uncles, Aunts, Nieces and Nephews. And her puppies, Diamond, Barbra, Skipper and Nova. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Nina Livengood.

Memorial contributions in Kay’s honor are suggested to Skookum Kids of Central Washington, 316 McLeod Rd Suite 108, Bellingham, WA 98226 or to CASA for Kittitas County, 421 N. Pearl St. Ste. 208, Ellensburg, WA 98926.
