Evelyn O. Vader

Evelyn O. Vader, 86, former longtime resident of Goldendale, passed away peacefully at her son’s home in Ellensburg on Tuesday, November 17, 2020.

Evelyn was born in LaGrande, Oregon on February 4, 1934 to Clair & Cora (Browning) Smith. She was the middle child of five children. She graduated from Goldendale High School with the class of 1953. She married Levi Vader and had four daughters and one adopted son. Evelyn babysat in Goldendale for several families and was a linotype operator for the Goldendale Sentinel for 23 years. After leaving the Sentinel she stayed at home and helped raise grandkids and great grandchildren. She loved to crochet until her vision became bad.

Evelyn is survived by her brother Darcy Smith; sisters Bernadine Kesterson and Nelda Yarnell; and children Susan Klimek, Kathy Marshall and Eddie Vader. She was preceded in death by her husband Levi and daughters Nancy Vader and Barbara Vader.

A graveside service will be held in Cove Oregon at the family plot at a date to be determined after COVID travel restrictions allow. Johnston & Williams Funeral Home and Crematory of Ellensburg has been entrusted with caring for Evelyn's family.
