Vernon J. Steiner

Vernon James "Vern" Steiner, 73, of Cle Elum, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025 in Ellensburg. His family will host a celebration of life starting at Noon on Friday, October 17, 2025 at the Cle Elum Eagles.

Vern was born March 7, 1952 to parents Allen & Cecilia (Johnson) Steiner. He grew up in Cle Elum along with his siblings Fred, Sally, Allen, Jay and Jack. He graduated High School in 1971 where he met the love of his life Cindy Harrison. They were married in 1973 and then packed up and moved to Renton where Vern attended community college. Both Vern and Cindy worked for Lockheed Martin building the Polar Star & Polar Sea.

After the birth of their first son, Justin, they returned to Cle Elum where Vern took a job with Shoemaker Manufacturing and was an active member of the volunteer fire department for many years. In 1989, Vern took a job at Boeing as a machinist where he worked until his retirement in 2014.

Vern loved to hunt and was an avid outdoorsman. Once Brandon came along, Vern could often be found with his family camping at their favorite site, or off with his two boys on adventures. He loved his family and was never afraid to show it. Ever the gentleman, Vern could always put a smile on faces and could light up a room just talking to him. He could fix darn near anything and was the man to call if ever you needed help.

Vern is survived by his two sons, Justin and Brandon; his sister, Sally; his two brothers, Jay and Jack; along with multiple cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy; his parents; and brothers Fred Steiner and Allen “Babe” Steiner.

He will be sorely missed and remembered with a fond smile in the hearts of those closest.
