Sylvia P. Panchot

April 13, 1938 — July 21, 2025

SYLVIA P. PANCHOT - Suky, to her family and friends - passed away at home in Ellensburg, Washington on July 21, 2025.

Suky was born to Dwight and Marion Panchot in Seattle, Washington on April 13, 1938. Growing up in Seattle, Suky was a graduate of Roosevelt High School, and later attended Cornish College of the Arts, University of Oregon, and Lake Washington Institute of Technology, where she received her certification in Environmental Horticulture.

In her 20s and 30s Suky traveled the world, and eventually settled in San Francisco for several years, where she owned an eclectic gift store by the name of Impulse! She later moved to Ashland, Oregon, where she owned another Impulse!

It was in Ashland where Suky met Frank Miller, who was her life partner for the next 47 years. They loved their kitties, had many road trips in their fast and fun Morgan roadster (affectionately known as “Moggie”), and eventually moved to Seattle, where they were closer to family and friends. Together, Suky and Frank had a very successful landscape design business in the Seattle area for many years.

In 2005, Suky and Frank moved to Ellensburg, and thoroughly enjoyed their time there; summer visitors, Jazz in the Valley, and student recitals at Central Washington University were especially memorable for them.

Suky met her only child, Jennifer Nelson, in 1988, and together they shared a unique, enduring, and loving relationship over the next 37 years and through Suky’s passing.

Suky is preceded in death by her parents, her niece Melissa, her nephew Chris, and her oldest sister Diane. She is survived by her partner Frank, her sister Nancy, her daughter Jennifer, her beloved cat Ralph, numerous nieces and nephews, and many dear friends: we are all missing her very much!
