Ruth Carpenter, 94, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 29, 2026 at her home in Ellensburg, Washington.
Ruth was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on April 20, 1932 to Harvey and Odessa Andrews. In 1951 she married the love of her life, Kenneth Carpenter, and they had two children. In the spring of 1961, they moved their family to Washington State, eventually settling in Ellensburg. Ruth worked in the courthouse and soon became the first female appraiser in Kittitas County where she worked until her retirement.
Ruth was a devout Christian and enjoyed attending the women's bible study at her church. She loved watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up, attending many of their activities. Playing cards, swimming, and having coffee with friends filled her days.
Ruth is survived by her daughter Paula Barker; son Scott (Kelly) Carpenter; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; as well as her sisters Jeannie Schafer and Joann (Gary) Wells.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth; son-in-law Bill Barker; grandson Mitch Barker; as well as her parents and sisters Rosemarie and Maxine.
A private celebration of life is planned.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Johnston & Williams of Ellensburg. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.johnston-williams.com
