Russell Eugene Hodges

May 3, 1944 — August 28, 2025

Ellensburg

Our beloved Russell Eugene Hodges left this world on August 28, 2025, wrapped in the love of his family. Though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the years of love, laughter, and wisdom he gave us.

Russ was born on May 3, 1944, in Erie, Pennsylvania and from the very start, he carried a spirit of strength, kindness, and humor that shaped everyone around him. Russell lived a life of hard work, service, dedication, and curiosity; always striving to learn something new every day. The quote “A jack of all trades is a master of none, but often times better than a master of one”, describes Russell’s diverse abilities in life.

Above all, Russell’s proudest roles were being a husband, father, and grandfather. Russ was the keystone of our family, a steady hand to hold, a voice of reason, a teacher, and a source of unconditional love. Russell taught us by example to work hard, to cherish family, to laugh even when life is difficult, and to never take simple joys for granted.

Russell is survived by the love of his life and best friend Karen Lee Hodges and his children Shawn, Kelee, and Jesse Hodges. Russell is also survived by his grandchildren Amanda Moody, Shawnna Kingcade, Alexsandra Valdez-Lopez, Zachary Hodges, Hunter Hodges, Jesse Hodges Jr, and Adeline Hodges; each of whom carry a piece of his love with them.

Russell was welcomed into eternity and united with his parents Elwin and Dorothy Hodges, and siblings Joel Hodges and Roberta Buckel. Russell’s legacy isn’t just the years he lived but also in the memories he leaves behind and the stories we’ll retell at family gatherings. The lessons and traditions Russell taught us all will carry on long after he is gone. Russell’s love was a gift we’ll hold forever.

A celebration of life will be scheduled later, where we will gather to honor the man who meant so much to so many. Until we meet again, we love you endlessly. Russell’s presence will be missed, but his spirit will never leave the hearts of those he touched.
