Mitchell A. Barker, 47, passed away at the Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.
Mitch was born in Ellensburg, Washington on September 21, 1978, to Paula and Bill Barker. Mitch was a graduate of Royal City High School, class of 1997. After High School, he attended Lower Columbia College, where he earned his AA. While attending Lower Columbia, Mitch was able to continue his passion for playing baseball at the collegiate level. He later attended Central Washington University and earned his BA in community health.
At an early age, you would find Mitch on the ball fields. Mitch studied the game of baseball and earned many accomplishments along the way. Some of his fondest memories included traveling to Australia to play baseball and winning the 16-year-old Babe Ruth World Series in Jamestown, New York. Mitch loved sports and playing them at the highest level possible. During these times, Mitch made lifelong friends. Once Mitch finished playing the game he loved, he shared his passion for baseball through coaching and was able to do so at Thorp and Kittitas High School.
Mitch owned and operated Central Washington Dairy Products in Ellensburg. He loved his job and the people he met along the way – all of whom also loved him! Mitch leaves behind countless memories, his signature Mitch-isms, and a legacy of kindness and generosity. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mitch was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold and Margaret Barker of Wenatchee; his grandfather, Ken Carpenter of Ellensburg; and his father, Bill Barker of Ellensburg. He is survived by his grandmother, Ruth Carpenter and his mother, Paula Barker, both of Ellensburg; brothers Dan (Tammy) Barker of Woodland, Washington and David (Georgia) Barker, along with nephew Camden and niece Karsyn, all of Sunnyside, Washington.
Viewing will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at Johnston & Williams Funeral Home in Ellensburg. Mitch’s funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Mercer Creek Church in Ellensburg with burial to follow at the IOOF Cemetery.
