Michael Norman Zirkle, age 80, of Ellensburg Washington, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. His family will host a celebration of life gathering on Saturday, October 25 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Rosewood Clubhouse: 1100 S Rosewood Dr. in Ellensburg. Family and friends are welcome to attend and share memories.
Born on February 1, 1945, in Naches Washington, Mike lived a full and meaningful life marked by love, hard work, and a love of the outdoors. He was known for his honesty, grit, and authenticity, he touched the lives of all who knew him.
Mike was drafted by the New York Yankee organization straight out of Naches High School as a pitcher to play baseball until he was called to serve in the United States Army. He returned from service and moved to Ellensburg to start a family. Throughout his life, Mike worked as a technician with Ellensburg Telephone Company until he retired in 1991. Beyond his career, he was deeply committed to hunting, fishing, and spending time in the outdoors. He found joy in playing community softball and especially cherished time spent with his friends and family.
Mike is survived by his wife of nearly 45 years, Karen Zirkle, his children Anna Brooks and David Zirkle; step-daughters Tammy Wilson, Renea McCauley, and Kelly Tennant; his brother Rodney Zirkle; and his grandchildren Taylor, Claire, Travis, Peyton, Mia, Josie, and Nolan who will forever carry forward his legacy of resilience and determination. He was preceded in death by his parents Norman and Billie Zirkle.
Memorial contributions in Mike's honor are suggested to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Greater Northwest Chapter.
Mike will be remembered not only for the life he lived but also for his generosity and the stories he helped to create and share. He will be dearly missed.
