Karen Scott-Rowe

August 6, 1944 — May 9, 2025

Mattawa, Washington

Karen Scott-Rowe passed away peacefully with her family by her side on May 9, 2025. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at the Cle Elum Community Church with committal to follow at Laurel Hill Memorial Park. A reception will follow the committal back at the church.

Karen was born to George and Susie Scott on August 6, 1944. She entered this world with her twin sister Carol. Karen and Carol spent their youth sharing the twin connection of daily life in Roslyn and Cle Elum.

Karen’s marriage to Charles Guel welcomed daughters Teresa and Cheryl and son Richard. Karen met and married Richard Rowe in 1975, sharing 50 years together. Richard and Karen blended their families and enjoyed the adventures that life in the Teanaway Valley offered for 15 years. Karen’s career path took her to the administrative department of CWU Dining Services where she loved her work and co-workers. Following retirement, Richard and Karen moved to Desert Aire where they enjoyed their shared passion of the sport of golf. Life at Desert Aire offered the friendship of the golfing community and daily activities that kept their life overflowing with fun. Each Fall would find Richard and Karen traveling to Casa Grande Arizona to spend the winter months in the warm climate. Arizona life offered golf, the enjoyment of her Mahjong ladies’ group, and the retirement lifestyle of fun and relaxation.

Karen’s true passion was her family. Her husband, children, grands, and greats were the center of her being and her treasures. Golf camp, swimming and holiday gatherings will always hold special memories in all our hearts. Trips to Reno or Vegas with sisters Carol, Ella and Becky always included bingo sessions and casino adventures.

Karen is survived by her husband, Richard Rowe; sons Richard Guel (Cheryl) and Phil Rowe; daughters Cheryl Pederson (Rune) and Dawn Rowe; son-in Law Tom Galbraith; grandsons Chas Guel, Seth Barrie, Jason Rowe, Jonathan, Matthew and Joshua Galbraith; granddaughters Stephanie Barrie, Amanda Guel, and Sarah Galbraith; great-grandchildren Charlee and Hendrix Souriyavongsa; twin sister Carol Gould (Tom Wait); sister Becky Montgomery (Ron); brother-in-law Jim Bingham; sisters-in-law Lynda Jacobsen and Janet Barnard (Kevin); and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Karen sadly lost her daughter Teresa Guel-Galbraith in 2020 and was preceded in death by her parents, brothers George, Dale, Walter and Terry and sisters Letticia and Ella.

Our family is thankful for the caring calls and suggests memorial donations may be made to one’s favorite charity.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Johnston & Williams of Cle Elum. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.johnston-williams.com
