Joe Dees, 78, of Kittitas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, reuniting with the love of his life, his beloved wife Sandy, who preceded him in death. A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at a later date and details will be shared at that time.
Joe was born on August 23, 1947 in Ellensburg, Washington to Aubra & Nellie (Ritter) Dees. A skilled home builder and remodeler for many years, Joe took great pride in his work. His craftsmanship and dedication could be seen in countless homes, including those he built and remodeled in Juneau, Alaska. Joe’s work was more than a profession. It reflected his strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to providing for his family.
Outside of work, Joe had a deep love for the outdoors. He especially treasured hunting, snowmobiling, and never missed his annual elk hunting trips, which he looked forward to each year. These trips, shared with his son and close friends Jim, Michael, and Carl, were among his happiest moments and created memories that will be cherished forever.
Joe will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love of family, and the quiet strength he carried throughout his life. His legacy lives on through the family he loved so deeply and the many lives he touched along the way. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and a man who left a lasting mark on both his family and the communities he served.
Joe is survived by his children, Mark Petrie (Toni) and Lori Cameron; his grandchildren, Savana Damian (Beau), Tanner Petrie, Amanda Cameron, and Megan DeLosAngeles (Odalis); and his cherished great-grandchildren, Addisyn, Noah, and Mason, who brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his sisters Cheryl Dees, Audrey McKeever, Joyce Mauk, Oletta Osborn, and Virginia Paddock, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his wife and parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brothers Darrel Dees and Aubra Dees.
