Harriet Bland

Mass of Christian Burial for Harriet Bland will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Ellensburg with private family burial to follow. A celebration of life reception will be held starting at 3:00 p.m. that same afternoon at the home of Bart Bland, 3830 Manastash Road in Ellensburg. Mrs. Bland, 85, a lifetime Kittitas County resident, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, August 7, 2026.

Harriet was born in Ellensburg on March 25, 1941, to Manda and Frank Gregerich. She grew up in Kittitas County alongside her sisters Marjorie, Bernice, and Marie, and her brothers Bob and Frank. She graduated from Thorp High School in 1959. Harriet married Larry Bland on December 9, 1957, and together they established deep roots in the Ellensburg community, raising their children, Brenda and Bart. Larry preceded her in death in 2023.

Harriet dedicated many years of her life to serving Kittitas County through her work in the Assessor’s Office. She was also deeply involved in the community, volunteering with the Kittitas County Fair Sale Committee and being an active member of the Kittitas County Cattlewomen’s Association. After retiring from the Assessor’s Office, Harriet returned her focus to the farm, where she enjoyed raising cattle and working the land.

Harriet found joy in the simple, meaningful things that filled her life. She loved gardening, horses, cooking and baking, and took great pride in caring for her family and her home. She especially cherished watching and supporting her grandchildren throughout their 4-H years and sporting activities. Whether she was working alongside them, cheering from the sidelines, or making sure everyone was well fed, Harriet was always there.

Harriet was incredibly proud of her Kittitas County roots and the life she built here. She was known for her strength, independence, determination, generosity, and unwavering work ethic. She was a woman who could do just about anything she set her mind to, and she carried herself with a quiet strength that was admired by those who knew her. She gave freely of her time, her talents, and her love, and she never hesitated to show up for the people who mattered most to her.

Harriet was the heart and anchor of the Bland family. She was the person who brought everyone together, kept family traditions alive, and made sure there was always a place at her table. Her home was a gathering place, her kitchen was rarely quiet, and her family always knew they could count on her. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose presence brought strength, comfort, and connection to those around her. Her family was her greatest pride, and the love she poured into them will continue through the generations.

Harriet is survived by her daughter Brenda and her son Bart; grandchildren Andrea (Hauke), Shannon, Lexie (Dillon), and Drew; sister Bernice Haberman and brother Robert (Keri) Gregerich; as well as many extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband Larry; sisters Marjorie and Marie; and brother Frank.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
