Ed Tucker, Jr.

December 30, 1939 — May 31, 2025

Yakima, Washington

Ed Tucker, Jr. was born in Wichita, Kansas on December 30, 1939 to Ed Tucker, Sr. and Sarah Fox Tucker. Ed passed away May 31, 2025 in Yakima, Washington.

Ed grew up in Wichita with his parents and three siblings; Judy, Mike and John. Upon graduating from East High he attended the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. Midway through his freshman year he received a letter from his parents stating they were moving to Ellensburg, Washington and he was to meet them there at the end of the school year.

Once Ed arrived in the Kittitas Valley he immediately took to the country life on his parents' new ranch near Robinson Canyon. After a brief stint at Washington State University, Ed returned to Ellensburg and earned a business degree from Central Washington State College. There he met Susan Davis and the two were married in August of 1962. Soon they began a family that grew to three children; Nip, Steff and Mary.

Ed joined Don Berry as a partner in Berry’s Department Store beginning a long and successful career as a merchant/businessman. In 1973 he and Jerry Anderson started Horseman’s Supply a western store and horse event center in Ellensburg. Patrons from around the U.S. enjoyed his hospitality and generosity at “the store”. He was very civic minded serving on the Ellensburg Rodeo Board and the Ellensburg City Council along with many other community organizations.

In 1984 Ed married Theo Hall and they continued to make Ellensburg their home. Theo’s four children - Debbie, Mike, Rick and Brad - were thought of by Ed as his own. In the early 2000’s Ed and Theo moved to Richland, Washington where they split time between there and Wickenberg, Arizona.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents Ed and Sally and his siblings Judy and Mike. He is survived by his brother John; former wife Susan and current wife Theo; his children Nip (Jody) Tucker, Sandra Tucker, Mary Coller and stepchildren Debbie (Kim) Lowe, Mike (Kathy) Hall, Rick (Christi) Hall and Brad (Michelle) Hall. In addition, Ed is survived by 13 grandchildren - Tait (Ailee) Tucker, Trew Tucker, Trey (Quinton) Nyman, John (Mercedes) Coller, Jason Coller, Trevor (Jessie) Caldwell, Levi Caldwell, Dan Lowe, Eric Lowe, Meagan Hall, Randy Hall, Haily Hall and Ryan Hall.

A family service will be scheduled for a later date. Memorial contributions in Ed’s honor are suggested to a charity of your choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Johnston & Williams of Ellensburg. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.johnston-williams.com
