Diane L. Ivin

August 17, 1947 — May 16, 2026

Ronald, Washington

Diane L. Brennan-Ivin was born on August 17, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois to James A. Brennan and Cathrine Anna Moore-Brennan.

Diane married her high school sweetheart, Gerald W. Ivin, and moved to Newport, Rhode Island while Gerald was stationed in the Navy. Their first son, Michael, was born in Newport. After Gerald was discharged, the family moved back to Chicago area and bought their first house in Dalton, Illinois.

In 1971, Gerald and Diane’s second son, James, was born. The following year, the family took a vacation to the great Northwest. While spending time in Yellowstone National Park, they realized that they both loved the area. They returned to Dalton to immediately sell their home, to begin the journey to live in the PNW.

Diane and Gerald settled down in Bellevue, Washington while looking for a home to purchase. Diane returned to school & quickly became a registered nurse. With her new career, the family purchased their first home in Kent, Washington, and then eventually moved to Issaquah. Diane practiced nursing at the University of Washington and also had a side business of home nursing and lent her time and skills to local area hospitals when needed.

Diane loved the outdoors, so she and Gerald constructed a home in the mountains where they lived off the grid. Truly an outdoorsman, Diane was found constantly fishing and camping on her days off.

Diane fought a long and hard battle with cancer and will be missed and loved by all that knew her. She passed away surrounded by her loved ones at home in South Cle Elum, Washington on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her father James and mother Catherine; her three brothers James, Richard, and Jack “John”; as well as her son, James, who passed away in 2007.

Memorial contributions in Diane’s honor are suggested to the American Cancer Society; the Fred Hutch Cancer Center; or the American SIDS Institute.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Johnston & Williams of Cle Elum. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.johnston-williams.com
