Clyde L. Derting

Born on December 9, 1937 to Paul & Ruby Derting in Pasco, Washington, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at his home in Ellensburg with family by his side.

Clyde grew up in Kennewick, Washington, with his two brothers - George and Wayne - and graduated from River View High School in 1955. He loved saying he was in the top ten in his class, then would say there were only ten students in his class and laugh with his contagious laugh. In 1954 he met the love of his life, Theo Beltz, they married in Kennewick on October 29,1955. Clyde and Theo settled down in Maple Valley in 1969, and together raised their six daughters - Renee, Christine, Sandi, Lori, Shannon and Erin.

Clyde was a Manager at Boeing and part of the teams that worked on the Moon Buggy and Jet Foil programs. He retired in 1995 after 40 years with Boeing. In 1999 Clyde and Theo moved to Ellensburg. They lived in their fifth wheel while their home was being built. In 2000 they moved into their new home.

Clyde enjoyed camping at his favorite camping site, Blue Lake, near Omak. He liked spending time with his family, and he always looked forward to the annual Easter gathering at his home. He also took pride in keeping their home beautiful.

Clyde was proceeded in death by his parents Paul and Ruby Derting; his brothers Larry, George, and Wayne; his daughter Sandi Green; his grandson Caleb Goforth; and his son-in-law, Madison Parker.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Theo; daughters Renee (Karl) Hider, Christine Derting, Lori Parker, Shannon (Ray) Caracol, and Erin (Brad) Rand. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Clyde at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 1, at the Cle Elum Seventh Day Adventist Church, where they are members.
