Carol Michon Little

April 6, 1929 — May 20, 2025

Cle Elum, Washington

Carol was born in Brooklyn, New York, the first child of Fred and Hazel Michon. She didn’t remain an only child long, her sister, Betty, was born when Carol was only ten months old. Soon her family moved out of New York to Summit, New Jersey, where she grew up. Her brother Ted was a welcome addition to the family when he was born seven years later.

One of the members of Carol’s graduating class at Summit High School was a young man named Robin K. Little. They attended different colleges but met again during summer breaks. Soon they were dating, then engaged, and married June 17, 1950, just after Robin graduated. With a job offer from Boeing in hand, they left for Seattle, Washington, driving across the country on their honeymoon.

The next years were busy ones. Carol and Robin had four children, built a house, planted a garden, and enjoyed the Northwest lifestyle of hiking, camping, boating and skiing with family and friends.

After the children were grown, Carol went back to school to start a new career. Years of patching up three active boys lead her into nursing. She returned to school to earn her LPN and then her RN. Employment at a pediatrician’s office followed.

Skiing was a lifelong passion for Carol. In the mid 1960’s, Carol and Robin joined the Billiken Ski Club and met many lifelong friends while the club built their ski lodge at Crystal Mountain. They enjoyed decades of weekend and holiday skiing and after ski social life at the ski lodge. For twenty-three years Carol volunteered with the Crystal Mt. Ski Patrol, first for the regular patrol and then in the First Aid room, only quitting when her knees gave out.

In 1970 Carol and Robin bought a ranch near Cle Elum, Washington. Together with friends and family they built a cabin on the property. They raised cattle and hay. Cattle round-ups, fence mending and hay harvesting provided the excuse for many happy gatherings with Carol adeptly handling the logistics of food and lodging.

Carol is survived by her four children, Mary E. (Lissa), Stephen, James and David, ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her husband of seventy years, Robin, her sister, Betty, and her brother, Ted.

We will miss you, Mom.
