Beverly Joann (Hubbard) Ballard, 94, longtime Teanaway Valley resident, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, June 19, 2025. Her memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at the Swauk Teanaway Grange with Pastor Worth Wilson officiating.
Beverly was born on April 19, 1931, in Boise, Idaho to Arthur & Ethel (Chandler) Hubbard. A resident of Cle Elum since 1946, she graduated from Cle Elum High School in 1949. Beverly went on to attend Linfield College and the University of Washington. While at Linfield, she was awarded a scholarship to the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music for accompanying.
In June of 1952, Beverly married Charles Ballard at the Community Church in Cle Elum. Together they resided on the family ranch in the Teanaway Valley from 1954 until their passing. After Charles returned from the Air Force, they farmed with his father and built a life grounded in hard work, family and faith.
Beverly worked for the Cle Elum School District for 39 years as a bus driver and secretary, serving at all three schools over the years. After retiring, she remained active in her community by volunteering at the Elementary school library and the senior center. A highlight for her and her family was in 2015 Beverly was crowned as the Pioneer Days Queen.
Beverly had many interests that brought her joy. She loved reading, jigsaw puzzles, knitting, helping in the ‘meat shop’, and cheering on her favorite sports team. She was a long-time faithful member of Mt. Pisgah Presbyterian Church in Roslyn where she would play the piano on Sunday mornings.
Beverly is survived by her children Becky Bradbury (Denny), Doug Ballard (Renata), and Steve Plesha. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by her sister and a brother from her newly found family in Idaho: Karen Cowden and Art Jones. Beverly was preceded in death by her husband Charles, son Greg, daughter Jan and sister Carol.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to KVH Hospice for their love and care during Beverly’s time in hospice care. To that end, memorial contributions in her honor are suggested to KVH Hospice, c/o The Foundation at KVH; or to the Cle Elum-Roslyn High School Booster Club.
