Betty E. Butcher-Benjamin

January 21, 1948 — March 31, 2026

Cle Elum, Washington

Betty Ethel Butcher-Benjamin, 78, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at Virginia Mason Hospital on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.

Betty was born on January 21, 1948, the only daughter of four kids to Jack and Bette Butcher in Livermore, California. From the very beginning, she lived a life marked by determination and compassion for people. Over the course of her life, Betty built a legacy of meaningful work across several fields, most notably through her dedicated service to Emergency Medical Services in Kittitas County. Her contributions as well as her resolve to teach and empower others helped shape and strengthen the care of her community. Proving her excellence in this work, she was recognized by receiving the Everyday Hero award from Washington’s Governor Gary Locke in 2002.

Betty will be remembered not only for what she accomplished, but for who she was. Her family remembers fondly the love, care, and attention she showed to each generation through time spent, cookies baked, and trips made.

She is lovingly survived by her husband, Fred Benjamin, her children and stepchildren, Jacque (James) Reddy, Rob (Lisa) Moffat, Shilo (Tim) Blankenship, Val Marsh, and Meica (John) Campbell. She also leaves behind a cherished legacy of grandchildren—Jamison, Jordan, Joel, Madison, Major, Molly, Amelia, Aisling, Alex, Caelan, Moriah, Zion, Colson, and Brennon—and great-grandchildren, Elsie, Jane, and Marlowe. Betty also held close others whom she considered family, a reflection of her heart.

Betty’s life was one of service and strength. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, the family she loved fiercely, and the community she helped in times of greatest need.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at Laurel Hill Memorial Park in Cle Elum.

Memorial contributions in honor of Betty’s life are suggested to the Cle Elum Fire Department or Hearts and Hands of Kittitas County.
