Judy Bland

April 20, 1942 — July 28, 2023

Cle Elum, Washington

We remember and celebrate the life of Judy Bland.

Judy was born on April 20, 1942 at the Cle Elum Hospital to Fred and Lorraine (Dalisky) Cusworth and died on July 28, 2023 in Yakima.

In 1962, she married Norm Bland, her high school sweetheart but was widowed in 1991.  Norm and Judy had two children, Kelly (Bland) Clift and Kirk Bland. Judy worked several jobs, but considered herself a homemaker and was very involved in her children and grandchildren’s lives. She was blessed with three grandchildren: Kelsy (Clift) Maloney, Stephen Bland, and Mike Clift. One of the greatest joys in her life was being not only a grandma, but also living long enough to meet four great-grandchildren. She taught us how to love deeply, have fun, and cherish family.  She always felt that her family was her greatest legacy.

As the great-granddaughter to Roslyn pioneers, Judy lived most of her life in the Upper County and always considered herself a “Roslyn girl.”  Growing up in Roslyn/Cle Elum, she had many life-long friends that would reminisce with her about high school memories: cheerleading, the 1959 Boys’ Basketball Championship, dances, and other fun times.

Judy loved going camping and picnicking, sliding down “Sliding Rock” above her childhood home, and enjoying nature.  She felt most at home looking up at the mountain and trees, watching for deer and birds.  Besides her family, friends, and her hometown, Judy’s other passions included playing cards, going to the casinos, shopping, Christmas, loving her dogs, and cooking family recipes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, stepfather Val Zrebiec, and two great-grandbabies.  She is survived by her two children and daughter in-law Dianna (Paul) Bland, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Judy’s funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Roslyn with burial to follow at Roslyn Memorial Gardens.  A reception will follow back at the church fellowship hall.

Memorial contributions in Judy’s honor are suggested to the St. Jude’s Children Hospital or to the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Roslyn.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Johnston & Williams of Cle Elum.  Online condolences may be left at www.johnston-williams.com
